Financial Rights regularly hosts training and information sessions designed to give professionals, most commonly financial counsellors and generalist CLC solicitors, the necessary knowledge and tools to help current and future clients with specialist credit, debt and insurance advice, as well as make appropriate and timely referrals to Financial Rights. We engage with state and territory Financial Counsellor Associations to develop topics of interest for financial counsellors around Australia.
We have offered training on insurance topics such as bushfire and flood insurance, common insurance issues, bankruptcy and insurance, DV: debt and insurance and junk insurances. We have also offered sessions on the latest developments in credit reporting, buy now pay later, wage advance and other easy cash products; as well a delivering information sessions about the work of a financial counsellor. Significantly we have been increasingly asked to deliver information about what options are available to clients experiencing mortgage stress.
The Mob Strong team have delivered training about the progression of claims against Youpla/Aboriginal Community Benefit Fund following the fund’s collapse, with regular updates on the progress of the Save Sorry Business campaign. The team has also provided information about products such as consumer leases, car loans and a cultural communications presentation ‘yarning with mob about money’. The team meet with Aboriginal community network groups and welcome the opportunity to yarn about their service.
Please contact the Community Legal Education Officer via info@financialrights.org.au, if your organisation would like to arrange a training session or would simply like to learn more about the services that Financial Rights Legal Centre offers. The online world ensures that we can visit you wherever you are located in NSW or Australia to deliver a topic within our area of expertise, that your team is interested in hearing about.
Tiffany attended one of our trainings
The presentation was so clearly presented. Very practical and useful examples and down to earth ways to explain money issues. Julia is very engaging and very clear. The example scenarios and the visuals of the credit reports were very helpful. I finally understand the difference between an ‘arrangement’ and a ‘variation’ which has baffled me for some time!
Our CLE Impact 2023
Financial Rights regularly hosts training and information sessions designed to give professionals, most commonly financial counsellors and generalist CLC solicitors, the necessary knowledge and tools to help current and future clients with specialist credit, debt and insurance advice, as well as make appropriate and timely referrals to Financial Rights.
We are also increasingly speaking to community workers and groups about the general work of financial counsellors to raise awareness of these services. The majority of our presentations continue to be online which enables a broad geographic reach for our work.
