Briony’s Story: Flood contents claim
Briony’s home and contents were damaged by floods. She lodged a claim. Over the next three months Briony repeatedly called her insurer for permission to dispose of mouldy items, was asked to list all damaged goods, had assessors visit three times and missed days of work waiting for the insurer’s tradies, who repeatedly cancelled. Finally she was notified that half of her claim would be paid – but received no explanation why. Briony was very distressed by the whole experience. Financial Rights assisted Briony to dispute the insurer’s decision.
